miketheExbaker Posted February 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2015 My girlfriend is a British citizen with a green card and residence here in the USA. Is there anything special she has to do in order to get on the boat in Miami and get back off it in Miami?
Rare BlueRiband Posted February 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) Yes, in addition to her green card she must bring her UK passport which I hope is current and has at least six months of validity remaining at the time she disembarks the ship. A "green card" only allows her to re-enter the USA. It doesn't allow her to enter any of the countries on the ship's itinerary. As far as these countries are concerned she's a UK citizen and they don't care about her residency status in the US. Check the official immigration sites for every country on the itinerary - these should be available in English. You want to check if UK citizens are required to have a visa. It makes no difference whether she goes ashore or not - a ship is "in" that country once it enters territorial waters. Without proper documentation to enter these countries she will be denied boarding. (BTW - I hope her Green Card is current. There's a thread in another section where somebody booked a cruise and then discovered that their traveling companion has an expired one.)
