Question regarding TIPS for the kids??

I know that carnival includes the $10.00 per person, per cabin, per day on our bill directly for cabin steward and dining staff. Does this include a $10.00 charge for this kids (our 3 year olds)? Just curious as I am not sure we will actually be taking them to the main dining room everynight and would rather use some of that money for tips for folks in camp carnival. Any thoughts? Also what is appropirate for the carnival staff?

Thanks!

Do a goggle for cruise tip calculator and you will be linked to a great site by a aol member.

As far as your question, I would tip the dining room staff the full amount no matter what because they work in all food areas on the ship not just the DR. They will wait on you over and over again.

As a general rule of thumb, it is considered acceptable to tip half the amount for kids. This was stated in the literature we received before our last cruise on Carnival. You can go to the pursers desk and have them change the amount if you'd like. Some prefer to have all tips removed and do the tipping themselves. Keep in mind, however, that many of the employees rely on tipping as their primary source of income much like a waitress.;)

We always tip the full amount for our child. It's true that the DR staff also work in the other food areas (for example, we've seen our waiter in the Horizon Court -- that's the buffet restaurant on Princess ships).

As our daughter goes to the kids' area for many hours, we'll try to tip about $20 (for a 7-day cruise).

Yes, Carnival will charge the 3 year olds the 10pp per day tip. If you know now that your kids will not be using the dining room then let your agent know not to give them a dining assignment. This will free up the seat used and then not worry about that particualr tip. BUT if your three year old will dine with you some nights-- and dine using the buffet other nights-- your server will be working the buffet area there on his off nights.

You can go to the pursers office and request that tips be taken off. Please know that tips taken off and given in cash are then pooled with the rest.
