I loathe the term, "selfie stick." I used to shoot forced perspective video using a monopod years ago - now "selfie sticks" are everywhere AND getting banned in certain area or on excursions... se la vie...

I had a "selfie stick" long before anyone else (even before the street traders in the likes of Venice and Rome were selling them)

 

Mine is called an extendable rod, after a friends crude but funny remark on its first appearance. It's stuck and will never change!
