susancelica Posted February 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2015 To 123 or not. Phoned Celebrity UK tonight asking if we could get any special offers added to our sailing on Constellation on 9th June this year. We booked in August last year with no offers available at the time. They said we could have the offer for £519 each on top of what we paid. Were Aqua class so would give us a drinks package which were planning buying and I think $300 on board spends and Gratitudes paid. Its a 12 night cruise and if i have worked it out right we will be better off by £20 each, as drinks package when bought would be subject to a 18% charge. Any ideas what to do folks
cruzzzinma Posted February 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) Doing the math with the US costs it looks like the package would be worth 875 euro for each of you. In USD Drinks 12*49.50*1.18=700.92 Gratuities 12*12=144 OBC for each of you 300/2=150 Total $994.92 which is about 875 euro in value for each of you. I think it is definitely worth adding the package by paying 519 euro more, you get 875 euro in value. Together you would save 700 euro. flames9 Posted February 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Depends on how much your going to drink!! On our 2013 Med cruise, which was very port intensive.....We got drinks just for the sake of getting drinks(rum/coke, beer, specialty coffees) as we had the drink pkg...and at the end of the cruise, I added up the drink bill and was not a huge savings....especially considering many of the drinks we just got because we had thew pkg! lol Then again it was nice knowing there was no drink bill at the end!! susancelica Posted February 26, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Works out at £635 so will book it tomorrow. We had drinks package last time on our Fjord cruise well worth it was nice just to pick up a coffee from the coffee shop and not have to think about how much we had spent. We could even use the OBS to upgrade to a premium package! Thanks for the replies

marco Posted February 26, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Just do the math in whatever currency you'll be using. If you gauge approx how much you think you'll drink and how much you'll be spending on beverages each day, if that amount is less than the cost of the beverage package, you're best off not getting it and just pay as you go. If you think what you'll be drinking would cost more if you pay as you go then the cost of the beverage package, getting the beverage package makes sense. (Other folks have posted threads regarding what the beverage prices are, scroll around, find that tread and do the math).
need2bespoiled Posted February 26, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2015 The only thing to keep in mind is that if you have a few busy port days to start your cruise, and don't buy the drink package until 2 or 3 days in, it _may_ save you more than the package. That being said, for convenience sake, I would pay the difference and add the package. Happy sailing, Jenna
