Cancellation Fee - refundable deposit?

We are currently shopping around for a cruise on the Crown Princess for next summer. I read about *****.Com here on CC and I have received many quotes. My question is, how many different cancellation policies are out there?

 

Our current TA does not charge a cancellation fee but some of the IAs that responded to our request charge as much as $75 pp. Is this normal or average?

 

Any advise, opinions, suggestions???

I think you'll find more and more TA's charging a fee because of those who use their services to get all the info they need and then abandon them to book on line to save a couple of bucks.

 

And yes, $75 seems to be the "going rate."

See if your TA will match the quotes. Some will, if so you are lucky.

I tried that, she wasn't able to. Supposedly, the IAs are wholesale or discount brokers and are able to give better discounts.

 

Quotes are still coming in so I guess we will wait and see. I still think $75 pp is a quite high.

I use several agencies and their cancellations charges are 50.00 per person.

And believe it or not, there are still agencies that never charge fees at all-ever. I know. I work for just such a company. Shop around.

I don't charge a fee if you cancel before final payment. The cruise lines also don't charge for cancelling before final payment. Also some of the wholesale companies charge a fee for processing.
