We are on the Glory in June. The 5 of us will fly into FLL the day before. Do most people usually stay in FLL or go ahead and go to Miami? Also, best way to get to the port? Can you rent a car in FLL and return at the Port? Any suggestions would be great.

You can choose to stay where you want - FLL, Miami, Miami Beach, Hollywood, etc. IF you are renting a car you might want to avoid Miami Beach and downtown Miami where the hotels charge guests $25-30+ for parking.

The later in the day you arrive, the easier it is to stay near FLL and make your way to POM the next day. www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist and lodging info.

No car rental at POM - Budget and Avis are close by ($10-12 cab ride) or with National, Alamo & Thrifty you can drop the car at the MIA airport and ride their free shuttle to POM. If you return the car to FLL (or do not bother with a car) you can shuttle to POM for about $15 per person each way - check with SAS, QLS, Go Airport Shuttle and others.

We just did this at the end of February. We flew into FLL (much cheaper than Miami) and stayed in Ft Lauderdale at the Best Western Plus Dania Beach. The hotel was ok but I mainly chose it because it had free airport pickup and our Miami transport would pick us up there. We used QLS and it was around $72 for 6 of us. They also picked us up from the port in Miami and brought us to the FLL airport for around $75. It all worked out very well and we were extremely satisfied.

Last time we cruised out of Miami we flew into FLL, shuttled with SAS and stayed the night in Miami. I love miami and I really like spending the night there. Plus I like waking up in the morning and seeing my ship in port so I like to get a hotel close to port that I can see the ships from.

This cruise i looked at airfare when it was first released and I found a really cheap rate into Miami and knowing it is generally more expensive to fly there vs. FLL I took it. So we will be staying there the night before as well. Although we will fly home from FLL because that happened to be cheaper.

There are a few hotels right by the port of Miami that people like to choose from. Holiday Inn Port of Miami, the Intercontinental, and YVE. Last time we stayed at the Holiday Inn and this time we are staying at the IC. All three of those are close to Bayside Marketplace which is a small mall with chain restaurants where you can grab something quick to eat if you would like.

I really like that area of Miami for convenience especially in the morning of your cruise. The port is only about a 5 minute taxi ride away and taxi's are readily available.
