(8k) Verandah extended Balcony

(8D) Verandah FWD or AFT

(8J) Upper Extended Balcony-FWD

(8E) Panorama FWD or AFT

The above options are all available for the same price, I was just wondering if one area was better than the other. Thanks for any help with the cabin selection.

I had an 8K and absolutely loved it! The Balcony was huge and I actually slept out there a few nights. I was on deck 7 in room 7202. The room stewards were the best and the only thing I wish was different was that the TV was a little old. I would recommend being a little more toward the middle of the ship as we were one of the first 3 balconies and were a little cut off what we could see if we were trying to look toward the back of the ship. All in all it was the best cabin experience I have had as it was quiet, centrally located and if on the port side there is no traffic in the hallway from people with insides as all the inside doors are on the starboard side, at least in this part of the ship.

My cabin mate felt the same way about the room as well and would definitely book again!

If the price is the same for all those choices, for sure get one of the extended balconies. Which leaves you with ...

(8k) Verandah deck 7 extended Balcony

(8J) Upper deck 5 Extended Balcony-FWD

Between these two decks for extended balcony, I would pick Verandah deck.

The Upper deck extended balcony cabins are over the Taj Mahal theater, which could be loud. And, being ALL the way forward, you will have a long walk anytime you want food, which is all pretty much from the center (atrium) to the rear of the ship.

From there, figure out what you will spend most of your time doing and going to on the ship ... On deck 9 Main pools (mid), lido buffet (mid to aft), serenity pool (aft), or gym/spa (forward). On decks 2-3, there is a wide variety of things to do, so study the deck plans. We spent most of our time in the Piazza Cafe (all of the trivia+other stuff), Redfrog Pub, Casino, and Lobby/atrium (dance classes, photo backdrops, some live music, and lots of other stuff).

I agree with getting an even number room (port side). Also, see how the 8K extended balcony rooms are all in indented sections. I would choose a cabin not right on the end of an indented section - at least 4-6 cabins from the end would be better (so 7166-7198, or 7252-7258). 7258 is great if you can get it. The balcony is looong - the length of 3 balconies. 7260 balcony is also long, however it is a handicap cabin, so you may have to give it up if someone needs it. Also, it has some issues - less closet & drawer space, no sofa, and the bathroom floor gets wet every time you shower because there is no barrier on the floor to keep water in the shower (plus the tile does not drain towards the shower drain!!!). It stays wet a lot because it takes a while to dry.

We have 8K extended balcony room 6232 (its an extra long balcony) next month!! Check it out, if it is still available!

Hi -- we are in room 6232 on the Pride leaving in May. Our category is a J not a K -- I know there are price differences with the categories and I am wondering which one is right?

Thanks everyone for the awesome information. It was all very helpful. When we decided to book Deck 7 was no longer available.

We did get 6228 on the Empress Deck. This deal was to good to pass up!

Counting the days until April 26th! :)

We need a handicapped cabin, so we are booked in 7260. Thank you for the heads up on the issue of water on the floor. Is there any way to deal with the shower water since there is no barrier ? Would towels work to absorb some of the water while you shower ?

Is the balcony just longer or is it a little wider as well ?

Hi Delta, our steward for 7260 was Sarjano (sp?) Ketut. He did a great job trying to help us keep the floor dry. Every time he came to our room, if he saw we had used the shower, he would take the wet towels away and roll up new towels to make a barrier around the shower area. They 'helped' but still did not keep the floor totally dry. By the end of the week, we had figured out how to arrange the towels, rubber shower mat, and curtain to keep it the driest possible. However, the problem is the way the floor is tiled ... the water does not drain toward the drains. And no matter what, it seems like the rolled up towels end up soaking wet and water escapes the shower area.

Ketut was a great steward, I hope that's who you have as well. He kept our cooler full of ice. Brought me 2 fun times each day, at my request. One of the shelves was broken and completely missing in our closet, so I left a note for him about it. You need all the shelves you can get because this room only has 2 closets. By the next day, the shelf was fixed (you're welcome to anyone else staying in this room! : ). There was a comforter in a storage bag in the closet. I pulled it out and had it sitting next to the closet so I could put our stuff in there, he took it away without me even asking. He noticed we had wine sitting on the desk and starting leaving us wine glasses whenever we used them. I asked for one extra pillow and he brought us two. He was super friendly, always saying hi and calling us by our names if he saw us out & about. We did leave him an extra tip along with a thank you note on the last day. I would guess that we were good cruisers for him as well. We always leave our cabin completely picked up & orderly whenever we step out, don't make the bed but always left the bedcovers pulled up neat, and we left our dirty dishes neatly stacked on the table. Hopefully that helped him take care of our cabin quickly whenever he serviced it.

Yes, the balcony for 7260 is larger than a standard balcony. I would guess a regular balcony is 4x10 and an extended depth balcony is 6x10. They are deep enough to walk by someone sitting in a chair, or lay down flat in a lounge chair. The cabins with extended depth balconies are 8J, 8K, 9B, and almost all of the suites (Also, the aft 8N, 8M, and the aft-wraps VS have extended depth because they are on the rear of the ship). 7260 has what is called a 'bowling alley' balcony because it is also longer than a normal balcony at 6x30. So, it's both wider and longer.

Longer than normal balconies to look at on Pride that are 6x30 are 8J's 6232 6234; and 8K's 7258 7260 8232 8234. Others to look at are obstructed view balconies that are 4x30 7A's 5236 5238. There are also some longer than normal balconies that are not 30 feet, but still extra long 7A 5245, 8J 6281, 8K 7303 8239. And, as mentioned above the higher priced categories 8N 8M 9A 9B and the suites.
