We are set to sail on the NCL Dream from Houston TX in February 2006. We are wondering what the address is that the ship will be leaving from and also if there are any car rental companies in the area. Also, looking for suggestions for hotels in the area to stay in. Thank You!

We did the same itinerary on the Sea last year. We chose to fly in the night before and stayed near IAH at the Amerisuites. Our car rental was done through Enterprise -- we picked it up at the airport, and had arranged to leave it at the pier on our arrival. With prior arrangements, you can park the car in the Enterprise area at the back of the parking lot right next door to the cruiser terminal, or you can return the car to the Enterprise office Seabrook.

We had also reserved a car to be waiting at the pier for us on our return -- it was a little more expensive, but saved quite a bit of time. There were 4 of us traveling together, and it was just so much easier to be able to load the luggage right into out mini-van than having to shuttle us to the Seabrook office.

I'm also including the link to a thread from last year that has GREAT driving directions -- the area near the pier is a little confusing, and I know a couple of people who've even had their taxi drivers get lost. With JRCHVATAL's instructions, we had no trouble (thanks again!!!). The driving instructions are post #10 on this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=162280

We were on the Sea out of Houston in July. Another CC member suggested the South Shore Harbor Resort. It was wonderful. They have a cruise special - you need to contact Jordan Wilson at 800-442-5005, extension 2032. It's $88.00 for up to 4 people in a room, and includes the breakfast buffet and free parking. Very convenient. We came in two days early and were able to see some of the sites in Houston (NASA, and the Kemmah Boardwalk) both of which were very convenient to the hotel.

Here's a link to their website:
