Can anyone who has used the gym on the JOTS tell me if there are places on the treadmills and elliptical equipment for a portable CD player so it does'nt have to be carried while working out and also how would you rate the gym and shower area?thank you

I used the gym on Jewel of the Seas on a six day cruise last year. I did use the treadmills, but as I don't use a CD player while exercising, I honestly can't answer your question about that.

The gym has a wide variety of weight training and cardio equipment and free weights, even surprisingly so. Again, though, as I showered back in my room, I can't answer the question about shower facilities at the gym itself.

There is also an area for aerobic classes, spinning, and yoga, etc. Unfortuantely, you should be advised that many of those activities carry what I consider to be an unjustified extra charge, given that most gyms such as World's and Gold's do not charge extra for special classes.

Mornings can be very busy in the gym. You may not be able to get on a treadmill exactly when you want from about 6:30 Am, most especially on sea days.

I regret that I can't be more helpful and hope that someone else can be more specific about the treadmills and elliptical macines.

Hi

I'm onboard the Jewel at this moment.

Unfortunately I have not visited the gym yet but will do this afternoon (but only for you) :D

I will take a look at the treadmills for you and post here tomorrow.

Gym area is nice but on sea days it intends to be very crowded especially when the weather is not so nice.

We had some fairly strong wind during our last 3 sea days and the gym was crowded during the day.

Sometimes you had to wait to get a free treadmill (that's what my tablemate told me - but he also said that at 6am there were hardly any people in the gym :D )

Shower area is nice because you have a sauna and a turkish bath free of charge there.

You can get lockers from the spa reception. A whirlpool is available in the Solarium, which is not far away so you can jump into that right after your exercise.

I went to the gym to check the treadmills.

And yes you can put a cd player on the treadmills and elliptical equipment. They both have places to put some personal belongings.

I have not seen anyone using a portable cd player there during my visit but in my opinion a small cd player should be able to squeeze into the areas.

Hope this helps and that you have a great cruise.

G.W.
