MSC Excursion or Private Vendor?

Can any of you regular MSC cruisers, give me any tips on booking an excursion direct from the ship or a private vendor that is standing out front.

Our ports are in the Caribbean....San Juan, and St. Marteen.

Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, for both San Juan and St. Marteen you should book with the less expensive tours on the islands. These locations are both very safe for tourists and the tour companies are very experienced with dealing with cruise passengers who need to be back to their ships on time. Most of the Caribbean is this way. Keep in mind that it if you are in port for nine hours, you probably should not take a 8 hour tour. I usually stick to 4-6 hour tours so that there is extra time to allow for mishaps. When you get back to the port early you can use that time to shop a little.
