Hi. Just wanted to know people's thoughts on arriving into San Juan after midnight on New Year's eve. We are taking the Summit leaving January 2 and are trying to decide whether to leave Dec 31 or Jan 1. We are at a hotel on the beach 20 minutes away and are worried about 1) getting a cab and 2) how safe it is to drive to the resort that is 30 minutes away at one o'clock in the morning. Anybody with any advice? Thanks a lot

Have done this. No problem with a cab. Are you suggesting renting a car at 1am in San Juan? Doubt that will happen as airport effectively shuts down about midnight. The only thing is make sure you confirm in writing your reservation for your hotel and notify them of your late arrival or you might find your room is gone! This happened to us. Then take a tour of the old harbor/fort area the following day.

Why worry about flight delays or cancellations on the 1st? get there a day early. January 1st was fun in town and your hotel should be able to assist with a tour or arranging a cab at a fixed charge.
