sharmorr Posted March 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2015 We are getting off Celebrity Sihlouette early morning in Amsterdam and getting onto Viking Kara that same day in Amsterdam (June 9). We are looking for advice on how to get from wherever Celebrity docks to wherever Viking docks. How can we find out where they both dock? What's the easiest way to get to Viking - train? Bus? Taxi? Currency needed or credit card? Would like to take luggage directly from Celebrity to Viking, leave it, and do some sightseeing before Viking departs. Any suggestions for a quick look at Amsterdam? Thank you, everyone, for any tips.

Silhouette will dock at the cruise terminal, Piet Heinkade, just east of Centraal Station. http://www.ptamsterdam.nl/nl/portal River cruise ships dock around Centraal Station at various places. As far as I know a few days before docking the ship gets the right location. Most of them will be very close - walking distance - from the terminal. However during busy days ships also dock at the western section near Centraal Station. That isnot realy walkable, you might need a cab. Most cabs take creditcard. However since during your rivercruise you might need Euros too, why not bring some. http://www.vikingrivercruises.com/my-trip/about-my-ship/docking-locations-ports.html in front of Centraal Station you will find canalboat cruises, tours of about 1 hour or take a hopon/off ship. In case you want to visit Anne Frankhuis absolutely make online reservations, lines can be very long. PS this post should be in the other Europe section, western europe.
