Imagination

We sailed on the Imagination in March of 2004. We read all kinds of review before we went. Most were great but some said the ship looked old and rundown. Well, we found the ship to be clean and neat. The service was great. The food was great.

The Imagination has since been in dry dock and renovated. There is now more to do. They did not have Putt Putt Golf. We enjoyed the ship so much my DW and I decided to take a short cruise on her in October.

Enjoy, I know we will!

We enjoyed the ship from the time we embarked until they had to drag us off, kicking and screaming.

The ship was in excellent condition and kept clean. The service was great as well as the food.

We loved the imagination so much we just booked a short cruise on her for my DW and I.

Enjoy!

Our very first cruise was on the Imagination. We were on the second sailing back in 1995 and didn't even know it when we booked the trip. -ah the memories. Anyway, we're hooked now and will be going on the Legend for our 6th cruise on 9/18.

Do you know how much the soda cards are? I am a diet coke addict. I was going to bring my own, but I drink so much, I think that I am just going to get the card. Thanks to everyone for answering my questions!

I think the soda card price ranges from $25 to $35 depending on the length of the cruise. I may be mistaken as things tend to change. We are not soda drinkers so I have not paid much attentions.

:) We cruise on her 9/12 also. This is our first cruise ever. My husband and I just can not wait. It sounds like fun for sure

I'm on this sailing too. I'm leaving the 3 kids and dh at home and getting away with my mom. It snuck up on me fast. I've got so much to do to prepare for the kids and dh for while I'm gone. This will be my 7th cruise...2nd on Carnival. I just want to get away. I don't even know if I'll bother to get off the ship in ports.

  • 3 weeks later...

:) Hi- I'm new to the forum but have been on several cruise lines before- never Carnival. The ports of call is Key West and Cozumel. Any tips on what the best excursions are? (keep in mind I don't swim but love the water). Can anyone recommend any private operators to pay for the excursions directly at each port of call ? (I heard you save quite a bit of money this way, but want to be sure it's reliable).

On a slightly different note, anyone else booked for this sailing? Just curious.....this was supposed to be a trip for two. Now....I'm going solo! LOL It would be nice to meet some people going on the same excursions. Any recommendations about things to do on my own while onboard?

What can I expect to pay to upgrade to a balcony from an inside cabin?

I plan on coming out to Miami the night before....any hotel recommendations close to the ship?

I'm looking forward to getting out of NY for a few days to bask in the sun. :D

Happy Sailing!!

I sailed on the Imagination this past August. I did have a good time - hard not to on a cruise - but I thought it compared poorly with the 2 previous Royal Caribbean cruises I had done 6 years ago. Except for room size, I thought everything was of a noticeably lesser quality. I don't know how RC is now, 6 years later, though. I do have to say that for the price the Imagination was not a bad value. But I have decided to pass on Carnival from now on.

Hi- while I'm still waiting for a response to my other questions, how do you find one of those cool icons next to everyone's names and load it here? LOL I was hoping for a wonder woman icon LOL I saw it in another forum and can't find it now. Thanks for your help!

Hi, Sunydaz! I can answer a couple of your questions, but not all of them. First, you asked about excursions. What do you like to do? What would you like to see at each port?

For Key West, I'd say just grab a free map of the island (they have them pretty much EVERYWHERE), decide where you'd like to go, and do a little walking tour of the island on your own. Some popular places to visit include the Hemmingway House, the Butterfly Conservatory, and the Lighthouse. If you're not up to a lot of walking, take the trolly (I think it's about $22 per person), and you can get on & off at the various trolly stops all day long. Grab a sandwich at Sloppy Joes, and get a nice "grown up" slushy drink at The Flying Monkey -- much better than Fat Tuesday's, in my opinion. :)

When my husband and I were in Cozumel several years ago, we did a snorkling trip on the Fury Catamaran. After snorkling, they took us to a little strip of beach where we could lay out, rent water equipment, etc. It was a lot of fun! After that, we went back to the ship, got cleaned up, then just strolled around town for a while. We booked the excursion through the ship, so I don't know about private tour operators. Sorry!

Let's see... what to do on the ship when you're solo...

Since my husband and I have very different tastes, I usually end up "solo" on the at-sea days anyway! I like to get some spa treatments (wait till the last day for really great discounts), play the roulette wheel at the casino, and watch the silly games -- the Newlywed Game is the BEST!

Avatars (the cute pictures by people's names) -- if you click on the link that says "User CP" at the top of the board, a control panel comes up and one choice is "Edit Avatar." When you click on that link, there are several little pictures you can choose from for your avatar. If you don't like one of those, do a google search for "free avatars" and you'll get a list of websites with all sorts of avatar pictures to choose from! Pick one that is 80X80 pixels or smaller, save it to your computer, then go back to the User CP and upload it as a custom avatar. That's it! I hope my answers helped! :)
