Does Uniworld keep your passport?

Less than a month to our first Eurpopean River cruise and my wife and I are very excited! We are doing Amsterdam to Budapest on Uniworld's new Maria Theresa. Out of curiosity, does Uniworld keep your passport and return it to you when disembarking? I did a search of the river crusing forum and could not find anyting on this.

Short answer is no.

We travelled with Uniworld from Amsterdam to Istanbul May last year The passports were taken after we left Vienna as we were entering Eastern Europe including Hungary

Maybe it depends if you leave the Schengen zone or not? When we stayed within France, Germany, etc they did not keep it.

I can't say what Uniworld's policy is but when we traveled Amsterdam to Budapest on another line our passports were taken when we embarked and were given back to us the next morning. At no other time was our passports asked for by the boats staff. Ours stayed in our cabin safe until we disembarked. I would assume that Uniworld do something similar.

We went Passau to Budapest last time, and we held our own passports the entire time.

Yes, I think that is the case. Uniworld did not keep our passports for our Germany cruise, but AMA did for our cruise from Bucharest to Budapest.

I'm on the River Ambassador right now (sitting in the lounge listening to the pianist and having an after dinner drink) traveling from Brussels to Amsterdam and our passports weren't held. Am loving the "all-inclusive" nature of this cruise😄
