Balloon Man Posted April 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2015 We would like to take a cruise on the Irrawaddy before the country becomes too touristy. Any advice?

HDS Posted April 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2015 Don't tarry; go now! Myanmar is changing rapidly. We made a decision to go with Pandaw at short notice in 2013 before the big riverboat companies moved in last year. Our cruise itinerary included the Yangon-Bagan-Mandalay tourist strip but continued further north, almost to the China border. We were the only tourists and made very welcome by everyone we encountered. My favourite travel experience on all seven continents. I posted a report on this board. If you search under my "Name", HDS, it should reveal itself. We used a local travel company to make some hotel bookings and arrange some guiding. We felt very safe exploring on our own.
