nfaith99 Posted September 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2005 Planning on renting a car at the airport or at their offsite location to use the day before our cruise as well as to transport us and our friends to the ship terminal. Then would like to drop the car off and get transported back to the ship. Do all the car companies offer this service? Are the car rental places near the ships and near the airport one and the same? If not this scenario, any suggestions? We also are staying in FLL at cruise end and need a car for another 24 hours. We will use that car to take us back to the airport as well as use it to visit a relative. Is this a good plan?? Thanks again for everything! TrentS Posted September 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2005 Yes, FLL and Port Everglades are adjacent. All of the major rental car companies are now located in the new Car Rental Center, which is a large parking garage in the middle of the airport terminals. The rental car companies no longer have their own shuttles, they're required to use the airports busses, but as far as I know those busses won't transport you to the port. A taxi from FLL to the port is about $10 though. Thrifty still has an off-airport site with their own shuttles though, and it's located just outside Port Everglades mid-port entrance. I understand they will shuttle you to the ships. You could also return the car to one of the neighborhood locations and get a shuttle to the port (Budget and Enterprise are 2 that come to mind that have locations close).
