The Mayor of Baltimore has lost control of the city.

The Governor of Maryland has declared a state of emergency for Baltimore City since the mayor is in hiding and he has activated the National Guard

 

The mayor for sure did not react soon enough. She "finally" (the governor's word") notified the state and asked for help.

He could not bring them in without her requesting them, or if she was incapacitated.

She failed as a leader, miserably, in this situation.

Not only did the Mayor fail but the police commissioner did also. As it has been reported that he orderer police to stand down and not do anything but defensive moves

Yep! I think the situation will be quite different now. When/if these thugs decide to try something like this again.

DAMN SHAME that the police on the streets were left so helpless. I had to wonder why they were even there.
