mandylooo Posted April 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2015 We are headed to Alaska next week on the NCL Pearl. I'm platinum on Carnival, but got a deal too good to say no to on NCL this time. We originally booked a GTY OV (a first for us) and wound up in a fully obstructed handicap room. We decied to go ahead and opt for an upgrade to balcony. Having learned our lesson about not getting any free upgrades with a GTY, we researched the lowest category of balcony, and found out that for an Alaskan, these enclosed balconies might just be a perk. We actually wound up pretty excited for one. So we booked the GTY again, expecting the lowest possible category. And got a 3 category upgrade to a midship balcony. Should I be excited? I'm considering calling and asking for a "downgrade" if possible. Can anyone talk to me about a hull on an Alaskan? Does it really provide extra shelter from wind/rain? Should I just be thanking the cruise Gods for my good fortune? (cross posting)
