amberjohn Posted April 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2015 We are cruising from Boston to Bermuda on July 10th, 2015. We want to rent a Boston whaler motor boat one day and possibly kayaks another day. We would like to stay as close to the pier as possible. How are the rentals at the pier? What other rental companies do you recommend? Do you think renting a motorboat for 4 hours is long enough? Thanks...
blue_water Posted April 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) You'll find a few threads on renting whalers, we rented at H2O which is located at Kings Point in Sandys Parish by Cambridge Beaches Resort and had a great day. That's a very convenient spot to start from. Somerset Bridge Watersports is a little further away located at Somerset Bridge in Sandys Parish, also a great outfit and still fairly close. We enjoyed a jet ski tour from there, another excellent way to see beautiful Bermuda from the water. You can use the bridge openings to cross between the coast and bay, very nice day and 4 hrs is a perfect amount of time, enjoy! jknacke Posted April 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2015 We are renting a pontoon boat from Somerset Watersports and although we haven't gone yet, I've done a ton of research and everyone said it was the best part of the trip. I didn't read one bad review. I also read that 4 hours flies by so I changed our reservation from 4 hrs to 6 hrs
blue_water Posted April 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2015 When we booked with H2O we had the option of staying out as long as we wanted, SBW may do the same, not sure. H2O is an excellent outfit. We really enjoyed our day of freedom but had enough after 4 hrs. We were staying on the island and spent time on the water other days as well. If a nice day you may want 6 hrs if you spend a couple hours having lunch or something... We prefer the smaller whalers for covering a lot of area. But it's a great day on the water, hope you both have great weather! :)

flowers44 Posted May 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Does anyone have an email address for Somerset Bridge Watersports? Has anyone rented a Whaler from the Dockyard? Were you happy with them? Just do a search for "Somerset Bridge Watersports" and you will get to their website. Their phone number is 441-234-0914. They have an email address as bdawatersports.com but not sure if you can contact them through it. I used the phone when I made my reservations two years ago. Great company to work with. We really enjoyed our four hours on the water.
jknacke Posted May 3, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2015 If you rent from Somerset make sure you call. I used the online reservation system and a few weeks later I called to add on some hours and they didn't have my reservation.
