Viking tour of Paris

I just got back from Paris. The Viking tour is on a bus that drives past most major sites. You have an hour stop at Notre Dame, and then drive to the Eiffel tower, where you have 10 minutes to take photos. The bus then returns to your hotel. If you chose, you can leave the tour at either point and continue on your own. Please just tell the tour guide if you decide to leave ,so that the rest of the bus doesn't wait for you to return.

We ended our Viking Paris tour on 4/28. Our bus and driver took us for a drive by of the Arc d'Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, etc. We did an actual 2 hour walking tour of the Marais/Jewish Quarter. Of all the great places in Paris, I'm not sure why we did the more mundane walk there. After the walk, they let us off at the Louvre for us to explore on our own. The Meridian Etoile, the hotel Viking uses in Paris was okay. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet but could use a touch of paint. Free Wi-Fi only in the lobby. Breakfast, though while very good, was crowded and not well laid out. Allow an hour for breakfast. There are several decent places to eat near the hotel. Our favorite was Le Brasier on Rue Ternes(next street over). We also tried Le Congres (expensive, great service/wine, okay food, try the Fixed price menu), and Il Natural(Italian, good pizza, people watching) located nearby. The metro stop is convenient. buy the book of 10 tickets, you'll get a discount. Buy tickets ahead of time for the Eiffel tower to skip the lines. Depending on when you are in Paris, the lines for walk ups can be 2 hours long. Have fun!!
