I know at some ports you can get off and wing it with various tour operators, does port canaveral have any of these standing by? We are interested in doing an airboat tour but see the price is greatly inflated for a short ride with what is included by carnival.. If anyone has experience with grabbing a last minute tour there please let me know, what was available and how the prices were.

common in the islands

less possible in the US

you can book directly and get your own transportation, but don't expect to see hawkers on the pier . . .

I feel your pain on the markup .... I work at a local attraction and the 'ship trip' costs twice or more what a DIY world be .....

but that is probably common to any port . . .

********

why?

insurance, insurance, insurance . . . .

where I work was inspected b4 the cruise lines began running 'excursions' and some of our attractions are yet to be approved . . . .
