Taking ice off the ship?

Would like to fill plastic containers w/ice from the ship to keep our sealed bottles of water cold in insulated bag when we're in Nassau. Can we get off the ship with the ice, since it's not "food?"

I have done it every cruise that I have been on. Put it in my bag and walk off the ship. Never had a problem.

We have a collapsible cooler we put ice in and take it off with us all the time.

I have the tall round Carnival cooler (has now been replaced on the Bon Voyage site with a square one) which we take off filled with ice and drinks at all beach stops with no problem! Love that cooler - one of the "beer buckets" fits perfectly inside to keep it from leaking.
