Quick Question about the Elation

 Share

Recommended Posts

I'll be cruising in the Elation this winter and have previously only sailed on Conquest Class ships. I'm aware it's smaller and older, but my real question is about the life boats. From how it looks in pictures, these boats seem to block views from the open decks. Does anyone have pictures from up there or can anyone tell me to calm down. Haha.

I've been on the Elation 6 times and there are a few places where the view is blocked but I don't remember it being bad on the open decks. I've got plenty of pictures and I'll try to post if I find some with the lifeboats in them.

The lifeboats don't block the view.

On one deck you are above them and on another deck you are standing under the lifeboats.

If you want a good spot for sailaway you might head to the eating area right behind the buffet a bit early and get a table right next to the rail.

There are also a few tables on the sides back there where I have seen a number of dolphins when sailing away from Cozumel. At a certain point the dolphins seem to stop playing with the ship and turn around to head back to the island. You are looking down and they can be seen under the water. YMMV.

If the ship is delayed anywhere so that it is entering the river while it is still light outside, that is worth seeing.

When it is dark you can't see it, but you can feel it.

Also, on here somewhere there is a thread that has a description of the things you will see sailing away from New Orleans. It is worth finding and printing out.

Sorry wrong picture. In this pic you can see life boats but they dont run the entire length of the ship. You'll be fine, loved the ship & would sail it again!!

I do not remember there being a huge issue with views being block on the upper decks. Went and looked through my pictures and I remember why, we spent a lot of time at the serenity area. Hope the pictures help.

Happy sailing
