sauertea Posted May 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2015 We are taking Star Breeze from Athens to Venice in October. Hydra is one of the stops. We will be there all day. Looking for suggestions about destination. As it is small, there is not a lot of info.
RAYSAN11 Posted May 31, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2015 Whatever you do it will be on foot or on the water. No wheeled vehicles are allowed on Hydra
Barrycat Posted June 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2015 You will love Hydra, we spent two days there last month after a Pride Arabia cruise. A nice walk is towards the west... Right facing the town, along the coast. There are a few neat towns on that route. We had dinner at Omilos which is on the point just west of town, probably a good lunch choice. A great view of the harbor on the second floor outdoors is Psaropoula, again for lunch, above the bakery in what I think is the south west corner of the harbor. Unless you are up for an aerobic workout skip the three or four hour hike up to the monastery. We didn't do it but there appear to be a number of small shuttle boats in harbor that you can hire to take you to out of town beaches. Strolling around town is a treat. sauertea Posted June 1, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted June 1, 2015 Barrycat, thank you. Very helpful. Most of the guide books are short on details for Hydra.
