We have just got back from the Jewel OTS transatlantic Harwich to Boston. What a wonderful trip , as usual , from RCI. We never considered a repo from a UK departure port before as we live in the north. It seemed too much hassle to get to the ship. I had the bright idea of one way car rental. We left Manchester at 5am and were on the Jewel before 12 noon having lunch in the Windjammer. The journey down was a breeze, we had 2 comfort stops and one for breakfast/fuel fill up. I would certainly do it again. We dropped the car off at Ipswich ( it was the nearest depot)took a taxi and caught the train from Ipswich to Harwich international. The total cost of car hire, taxi, train fare plus fuel was 72 pounds . Convenience is priceless.

The only down side was having to haul luggage up and down stairs when there was a late platform change . We later found out that the taxi fare from Ipswich direct to the port would have been 35 pounds. So hope this info is useful to someone " up north" who may be considering a repo from the UK.
