irishgal432 Posted June 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Thank you both for all of your Seattle information. We are heading out shortly and you have made the logistics much easier. I do have one question. We are at the Westin and my daughter is training for a half marathon and needs a 7 mile run the day of embarkation. Can you recommend a safe path for her at 7 am in the morning? Thanks!
VibeGuy Posted June 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2015 I only run if being chased by predators or if there's delicious foods in front of me. These running shoes I'm wearing just make it faster to get to the MDR. To make a seven mile round trip (!), I would suggest a run that takes you to Gasworks Park. There are excellent paths and sidewalks the entire way, and Fremont is near the epicenter of the running community in Seattle. From the Westin, follow Westlake Avenue as it heads north, then veer west to follow it along Lake Union. Cross the Fremont Bridge, and turn east along 34th Street where you will pick up the Burke-Gilman Trail. When you get to the signage that says Gasworks Park, you'll be almost exactly 3.5 miles. It's going to have lots of other run/walk traffic, it's mostly flat, it's all either wide sidewalk or specific pedestrian path, and it's scenic. Please have her do a mile or two for me. Rare Gardyloo Posted June 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Or here's a route along the waterfront up to one of the cruise terminals and back - less roadside traffic. https://*******/maps/ajbPs Replace the stars with goo and .gl Edited June 2, 2015 by Gardyloo
