Dinner guests

Thanks for the information re inviting guests. We would like to catch up with Russian friends in St Petersburg - that may make it a bit complicated, but we will see. We know of course we could apply for a Russian visa and visit them independently, but to be honest it's a lot of work getting the visa for what would be a very short time with them. And it's definitely not where you would want to sneak off from any of your Regent tours!

I'll let you know how it goes. :)

We hired a private guide when we were in St Petersburg with Regent. Since they were with us we did not have to get a visa. That might be a way to see your friends if they are not able to come aboard. During the evening, we had dinner and went to the ballet and the guide just waited outside (I guess they actually waited, but they were there after to take us back to the ship). So, they didn't have to be right with us. That was about 10 years ago so rules may have changed since then. I found recommendations for tour guides on the ports section of this board.
