kiltyjock Posted June 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2015 Hi we are on Aurora for the Baltic Cruise on 14th July. Have opted for coach transfer, has anyone any recent experience of coaching it from Glasgow through Intercruise. I know it is a sub contract, just wondered which coach operator they use and how the journey was. Only 4 weeks to go. Thanks KJ
tartanexile81 Posted June 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) Hi KJ, We used Intercruises in May, but only on the way back from Southampton and we were heading for Edinburgh. However the coach that picked us up was a Feeder coach - Ellisons. It was a lovely coach, actually the Everton team coach and we had their official driver. http://www.ellisonstravel.com/Premiership-Coach-Range We left that coach at Knutsford services as did various other people to different coaches and we transferred to a quality mini-van on which we were the only passengers. It went really well and we got back much earlier than expected. Edited June 16, 2015 by tartanexile81
balf Posted June 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2015 We have found Eavesway much better than Intercruises and always se them to either Knutsford or Burtonwood. David.
Jean Jeanie Posted June 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2015 We used Intercruises from Edinburgh in January. We had a very comfortable mini bus from Edinburgh to Glasgow and then a luxury coach from there to Southampton. We only had 3 pick-ups. Everything went smoothly. We would recommend them. It was the first time we'd used Intercruises too after several years on Eavesway, but we were pleasantly surprised and it also went ver smoothly. Jammy Bun Posted June 17, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2015 I'd always been a fan of Eavesway too, but our last trip with them (back to the North West from Southampton after a QM2 transatlantic a month ago) was absolutely dreadful, and we won't be using them again. The journey took almost 9 hours for 263 miles on motorways, even though it was a Sunday and the roads were quiet. We dropped off passengers here, there and everywhere along the route - probably because most QM2 passengers had booked Intercruises and Eavesway had struggled to make up the numbers to our area. The coach was elderly and uncomfortable. We used Intercruises for the first time last September and they were absolutely fine.
kiltyjock Posted June 22, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Hi thanks for info, bit anxious as we have not coached that distance, worried about what shape we will be in after long journey. Hopefully we will have our email with details of pick up tomes on 14th July, and it should be all downhil from there. Loaded the Tablet with plent films etc and downloaded plenty of books to Kindle for the Cruise.;) Roll on 14th July. KJ
silver surfer 2010 Posted June 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2015 I believe they pick up at 2-00 am from Buchanan Street Bus Station round about stand 23. If you can sleep on a bus then you'll be OK, first stop probably Carlisle, then Breakfast, then next stop Lancaster, don't know after that. Have a good trip and enjoy your cruise
tartanexile81 Posted June 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 25, 2015 If you're getting dropped off by taxi, it's best to ask for it to stop at the North Hanover Street entrance because the coach leaves from next to Stand 23 as Silver Surfer says. When we went by Eavesway we had to be at the bus station at 3:30 so stayed in a hotel nearby. We were told onboard one cruise that Intercruises leave about this time too but I don't do mornings and my OH found it impossible to sleep on the coach so that's why we haven't done it again. It took us a couple of days to get over it but we just took it easy on the first sea days. Coming back is great though - you just get off the ship, go through customs and the coach is there waiting for you.

Hi got email today with pick up times for coach from Glasgow 3.00 am arriving at Southampton at 2pm. Hope I get a sleep on the bus and don't look a wreck by boarding time, still have 14 days to recover before we do it all in reverse. ;)
silver surfer 2010 Posted June 27, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 27, 2015 Sorry I got it wrong, it's 2-00 am from Edinburgh and 3-00 am from Glasgow whereas Eavesway is 4-00 am from Glasgow and they both arrive around the same time of 2-00 pm

Would you believe we're going on Balmoral with you in May / June from Rosyth AND on Aurora with you to USA and Canada in September!! We're trying to work out cheapest way to get to Southampton, and looks like air fares / hotel prices etc.have rocketed since we did this a year ago - that's why we're looking at Cruise Connections from Edinburgh at a cost of £145 each return (as opposed to total price of around £525 for air from Edinburgh / Hotel / Airport Parking / Taxi to port etc.). What we'd like to find out before booking though is where the bus leaves from in Edinburgh and also approximately what time, as it is an awkward place to get to (from Leven). Booking hotels such as Holiday Inn, Winchester or Marriot just outside Eastleigh will give you free parking for up to 28 days and free taxi transfer to/from Southampton Cruise Terminal. We paid £212 in December 2015 for this package.
Enjoyacruise Posted March 6, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Hello we caught the Intercruise (Ellison's) coach to the Oriana on 30th January. It had started at Edinburgh as stated above, then picked up at Glasgow and Carlisle. We were the final pick up then two service station stops. The coach had experienced a slight delay at Carlisle. We received a phone call saying our pick up would be delayed 30 minutes. So we were picked up at 7.45 and arrived at the ship at 2.30pm. All very smooth.
