haehaehaley Posted June 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2015 We are going on our honeymoon in August on an 8 day cruise and got an upsell email yesterday to upgrade from a balcony on the lido deck to an ocean suite on the empress deck for $540 total for two people. This seems high to me but I don't have a lot of experience with this so I'm not sure? We would love a suite but would like to pay less than that, will they try to upsell again before we go for a cheaper price? And do they usually always email these things or will they try to call too? love my grandkids Posted June 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2015 They can either call or email. If they cant get 540 from others they will drop the price. It would be nice to have a suite but we dont spend that much time in our cabin so we would pass. Depends upon how much value you perceive in larger cabin. snc_cam Posted June 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2015 I agree that $540 is a lot that you can use in other ways. You already have a balcony which gives you the ability to sit outside by yourselves. Me, I wouldn't take this upgrade.
PAPERBKWRITER Posted June 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2015 Depends how deep your pockets are. If you're people with average finances I'd turn it down unless you don't plan to spend much time outside your cabin.
nwcruiselover Posted June 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2015 I wouldn't take that upgrade either, since you already have a balcony in a good location. Maybe they'll come back with an offer for less money.

I was offered this deal a couple of years ago for $500 for the two of us and we decided to take it. For us it was worth the larger space, the whirlpool tub, the dressing area, and the larger balcony. But you can use that $500 on something else like the spa, excursions, etc.
haehaehaley Posted June 18, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted June 18, 2015 Thanks for all your replies! I think we will pass on this one and use the money elsewhere or maybe they'll offer us a cheaper upgrade later on. :)
