stevecw Posted June 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2015 Our last cruise out of New Orleans we parked at the Fulton Street garage for the cruise and pre cruise. We stayed two nights pre cruise at Spring Hill Suites. It was around two blocks from the Fulton Street Garage, and parking at Fulton Street was much cheaper than the hotel. I also remember that the Marriot and Convention Center hotels were also fairly close to the Fulton Street garage.
Singer4Him Posted June 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2015 In 2013, we stayed at Hilton Garden Inn which sits "caddy corner" from Fulton Street garage. We parked at the garage and got some sort of discount for that night when we showed them our receipt for the hotel. Hilton Garden Inn was very nice and I got an outstanding rate of $65.00 for the night through lastminutetravel DOT com but I've yet to find anything close to that rate for our upcoming cruise in November. :( The hotel itself was very nice and we could see the whale tale from our room the next morning. Hope this helps. I, too, am looking at other options located within a block or two of Fulton Street garage just to know what's available and to see what the best prices are. Hopefully there will be a few more hits on this post. :)
WendyVF Posted June 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2015 Try this site: http://stay.hilton.com/mvp/ You just need a Hilton honors number to book. I found if for December 26 for $103 a night. I currently have reservations at the Hilton, Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden Inn in this area. Anyone have any input on pros/cons. Of course the Hilton is the most expensive, then the Hampton with HGI being the cheapest. There will be 4 of us (me, DH and DD's 20 & 24). We've all been to New Orleans before. We plan to arrive around 3pm on the 26th and want to wander the French Quarter and grab dinner and some drinks. We don't need parking but will need a small breakfast. NightOne Posted June 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2015 I think I remember seeing a hotel fairly close to the fulton street garage,Does anyone know the name of it ? Closest hotel to Fulton garage is Hyatt Place. It is literally across the street. The Hilton Garden Inn is behind the garage and very close too. (not quite as close as Hyatt Place but a close 2nd) The Marriott Convention Center is the next hotel down from Hyatt Place and very close. Finally, Hampton Inn & Suites Convention Center is a little farther (2 blocks) but is still pretty close to Fulton.
CruzinwithDLS Posted July 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Thanks to Singer4Him, I checked the last minute travel site you mentioned and just landed a $79 rate at Hyatt Place for our upcoming cruise (9/6/15)!
Human Speedbump Posted July 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2015 Try this site: http://stay.hilton.com/mvp/ You just need a Hilton honors number to book. I found if for December 26 for $103 a night. If breakfast is important, the Hampton has free breakfast, it's a nice hotel. It is the farthest from the French Quarter though. The Hilton Garden Inn has a full breakfast (omelettes, waffles, meats etc) for about $10pp. It is a very nice property and about 2 blocks closer to the French Quarter. I assume you are talking about the Riverside Hilton, and it's a huge hotel with good service. Drago's is in the lobby and they have an ala carte breakfast. It is about 6 blocks closer to the French Quarter than the Hilton Garden Inn. It is directly across the street from Harrahs Casino. Other great properties in the warehouse district in order of my personal Favorites (I stayed in all of them dozens of times) 1) Renaissance Arts Hotel- imo the best location in the city- breakfast is ala carte. Beautiful hotel and beautiful rooms ( think high ceilings and exposed brick and big windows) 2) Hyatt Place Convention Center- great fancy FREE breakfast, corner rooms are fabulous 3) Residence Inn St Joseph St.- Free deluxe breakfast and evening snacks and adult beverages, 3 blocks from the St Charles streetcar line, large resort pool area complete with nice gas grills. If you have a large party, they have 2 and 3 bedroom suites with kitchens (part of the hotel used to be an apartment building). 4) Springhill Suites St Joseph St. Free breakfast, nice rooms, 4 blocks from the St Charles streetcar line. 5) Marriott Convention Center- full service hotel, aka carte breakfast, the rooms are OK but starting to show their age. 6) Courtyard Convention Center on Julia Street, nice place recently remodeled, Bistro aka carte breakfast. Typical Marriott room. Loews hotel is nice but the rooms are plain Jane and its very expensive, not worth it IMO Harrahs casino hotel is nice but very expensive, not worth it IMO. Omni Riverfront has just been remodeled and rebranded (used to be Wyndham Riverfront) but I've not stayed there in the last 18 months so not sure how it is as an Omni. *Note* I Always use Priceline in New Orleans, I start out bidding on 4 star in the Convention Center Area and never pay more than $80 for a room. The only 4 star hotels in the CC are are below... All are good options for that price range. I often get the room around $65 plus fees. Marriott CC Loews Hotel Harrahs Renaissance Arts Do not bid 3 or 3.5 stars in this area as they will put you in the Hotel Modern on Lee Circle... And it's a DUMP. The rooms are like dorm rooms. The same applies for the CBD, you will get the Hotel St Charles. It is the only hotel in Nola that I've stayed in that the hookers ride the elevators trying to drum up business. If you need any other info let me know... I spend A LOT of time in NOLA and do business with all of the hotels ;)
