Question..Is it as windy on the open decks in Alaska as in the Carribean?..or not because your closer to land?

I would say if the ship is moving it might feel windy regardless of whether you are in Alaska or the Caribbean. If it is windy out you will feel the wind in both placess.

When the ship goes into the fjords to see the glaciers it is usually at a very slow speed to avoid ice chunks and it has always been generally calm within the fjords.

The roughest places on an Alaskan cruise is before you get into the Inside Passage and after you leave the inside passage. There may be wind in the Inside Passage but the waters do not get as rough as in the open sea but you can get some wave action.

May you have clear skies and calm seas!

I can recall much more wind in Alaska but it is by no means a consistant thing, just that the cold is more jarring than the warmth of the Carribean. I have had cruises to Alaska with no wind, no rain and no rough seas.. but I wouldn't bet the house on it on any individual sailing.
