Redrobo Posted July 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2015 (edited) Not sure if this is a wind up or not, to late for April 1st. The link is worth a read if you plan to take photographs in Europe. I copied the Link from a photographic group asking members to sign a petition https://juliareda.eu/2015/06/fop-under-threat/ Edited July 5, 2015 by Redrobo

Rare pierces Posted July 8, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) Came across this a couple of weeks ago and considered it as non-issue. Not so much anymore. The EU has restrictions on the import of cameras and electronic devices with nickel alloy on the exterior (grip sensors for auto-on, etc.) due to the 7%-10% of the population possibly having an allergic reaction, despite the fact that their one and two Euro coinage has nickel in it. Why would it be out of the question that they would protect the "rights" of copyright holders with draconian restrictions on photos of publicly accessible art and architecture? I suppose this would limit my interest in visiting any of the countries without a Freedom of Panorama until they come to their senses. On the plus side, Greece is one of the countries marked in red on the article's map and with their government's record of tax collection, Athens will be in ruins again before they get around to collecting any fine for posting a picture of the Acropolis or a village in Santorini on your Facebook page! :) Other links: http://petapixel.com/2015/06/20/alert-freedom-of-panorama-under-threat-in-europe/ http://petapixel.com/2015/07/06/petition-for-saving-freedom-of-panorama-in-europe-passes-300k-signatures/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_panorama Dave Edited July 8, 2015 by pierces

Rare pierces Posted July 9, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2015 They must have riffled around in a museum and unearthed a smal vial of common sense. http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/latest/photo-news/european-parliament-rejects-absurd-eu-plan-to-axe-freedom-of-panorama-55708 Dave
