Breeze vs. Freedom

Recommended Posts

We are looking at booking a cruise next summer with Jamaica being one of the ports. There will be 13 of us going, my question to anyone who has sailed on both is which one to go with? I am leaning towards the Freedom only because it does the Saturday - Saturday but we can do a Sunday debarkation if the Breeze is a better ship and if so, why?

If these were my options, I would choose Breeze. We have been on her sister ship (Dream) and the layout is much better than the Freedom class ships. The promenade on Freedom class ships is very enclosed and pretty much smells smokey all the time due to the layout of the casino and promenade. If you have any children in the group, Breeze offers much more in terms of The Waterworks area.

PS: Forgot to mention that the entertainment on Dream was much better than Freedom, so I assume it is similar for Breeze... The Ocean Plaza is one of our favorite spots on all the ships we have cruised. Enjoy planning! :)

Breeze is better BY FAR. Just got off of her yesterday. The Freedom was in two ports with us so I got to see them side by side. No comparison just by looking at them. More to do on the Breeze as well.

we've done both and prefer the Freedom and smaller ships. The Breeze is beautiful and HUGE. Freedom was more comfortable for us. We also love Alchemy bars which if I remember, correctly the Breeze does not have. Breeze does have lots of additional activities but long lines for nearly everything come with that.

Either way, you can go wrong. All ships are good ships. It really comes down to personal preference. Enjoy!

I love them both, but my choice is the freedom.

I like the smaller ship, shorter lines, and if you get a balcony on the breeze it usually overlooks the promenade deck, I prefer to look out and see the sea.

...unless you get a cove balcony :) Best ones are around cabin 2309...

Ok, this is not going to be easy! We will have my mom who is on oxygen and has a hard time getting around with us but also 2 boys under the age of 10. I loved the Conquest but hated the Magic because there were so many more people on the ship and there were long lines for everything! The last time we got my mom a scoot around for onboard so I'm leaning toward the Breeze I guess if it is a lot nicer than Freedom...

Well, since you shared this... Freedom is a Conquest class ship while Breeze is a Dream class (like Magic). Since you enjoyed Conquest much more than Magic, it stands to deduct that you will probably like Freedom more than Breeze.

Whichever you choose, enjoy!

Been on both (we did the freedom prior to the 2.0 upgrades) and I can say you will have a great time on either. We did.

But to pick one, I am another vote for the Breeze. It is simply awesome, and as evidence of that, we have another cruise booked for 2016 on her.

The décor is not highly important to us, but the Breeze wins that one.

The layouts are fairly similar. Breeze has more lunch options and a better water area.

The Freedom has the fish and chips which I really liked and it was the only thing I missed from the conquest class.

Freedom for me. Bigger and newer also means more crowded which is a no-go for me. I've sailed them both (twice on the Freedom) and to me it's the Freedom by a mile.

However, if you have kids with you the Breeze might be your ship. There is guaranteed to be PLENTY of kids on that ship!

I also sailed conquest and magic. Loved conquest! Magic was just ok for me. Magic is the same class as breeze and conquest is the same class as freedom. Water works would be a big deal if you have several children as the breeze has more water fun.

Imho I'd take the Freedom. Like others have said larger means longer waits at meals, shows etc. last cruise on the magic the line for comedy club was so long it went almost halfway down the promenade. We didn't even make it and In the main theater we were SRO. Next up is the Freedom.
