Question about freeport Grand Lucayan for anyone just there...

She may have just meant it like a "been there, done that" kind of thing. We had a great day there. So many pools and my daughter participated in a hoola hoop contest. Quick service at the bar. The ocean did have some grass in it. Definitely worth going to at least once IMO. Got some beautiful pictures from there.

Curious to know why you wouldn't go back. We are there for Labor Day so I need to make the decision whether to get the e-tickets for Grand Lucayan or Taino beach. Any feedback you have would be great!

Too far to go in a cramped hot van/ Seagrass and seaweed in the water (and pool)/ no one at the gate told us where to go and actually went to the wrong resort for a short time/ felt uncomfortable leaving anything unattended. Went to the Hilton in Nassau and had just the opposite feeling.

I am looking at doing this through Shore Excursioneer. There aren't many options in Freeport, so this looks good. How does shuttle transportation work at port to get to this resort? Does the shuttle say Grand Lucayan Resort?

Just use the shared taxi vans at port $10 pp round trip.

I went to their website and also saw they had a 5% off promo code (not much off, but a discount is a discount :) )

What is the Excursion Company Name and website please? I haven't been able to find it. We'll be in Freeport September, 28th and I was hoping to purchase a day pass.

Thanks and wish me luck!

Tanya, I just hit the link a few posts above. Pretty easy to sign up for. We have been there and used the beach before and my wife and daughter used a pass once while I was in meetings there one day. They loved it.

There is supposed to be a bus for ten per person round trip right at the pier. Did anyone use that. Where is it located.

When you get off the ship just follow the crowds to the taxi stands. It is not really a bus. Just shared taxi vans. Usually someone will be directing things and will tell which van to get into. You pay the $10 and get a "ticket" for your return passage. When you want to go back just return the drop off spot and show your ticket. They will then put you in the correct van. At that point they are making sure you go back with the same taxi company that brought you there, just to be fair. You may have to wait for the van to fill up, so consider that when planning your time to get back. It doesn't seem long though. They run frequently because this is the most popular destination. Have fun. :)

Hi, I just got back from Freeport. The shared taxi was 10 round trip. About a 20 min ride to Lucaya , we walked right to the hotel 15.00 per person day pass. Memories resort next door sold them also I don't know the charge since I saw their sign when I was leaving. I only stayed a couple of hours it was fine. I could have gotten to the beach for free right where the taxis drop you off but of course at the hotel you get the pool, restrooms and beach chairs. We got thee at 9:30 so no one was there yet. casino was small and no one was there I don't think I would waste my only there. For 50 total for day pass and taxi for a couple you could not beat the price compared to carnivals prices.

Thank you and thank everyone else for following up!. I am so excited glad nothing really has changed with the resort.

I'm looking at Google maps and am not 100% sure where the taxis drop off. I'm assuming in the roundabout in front of the Lucayan?

Either way where do you access the free beach section?

Thanks!

We were there last week. The taxi drops you off in front of the casino. Walk through the casino and out the back door. You will see a security stand over to the right which is where you can buy your day pass and they give you a bracelet. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is very nice. Not too crowded. We had a great day there.
