CalLuvsCrusingToo Posted October 11, 2015 #26 Share Posted October 11, 2015 I've only won on VP/Slots, in the ships casino, and if its over $1,200- you get a W2G, just like on Land. I "thought" we were exempt at sea? But we ain't. lol Usually the 1099 is for Contest winning, like if you won a major jackpot in a tourney. This has happened to me in a Slot tourney. I got a 1099, instead of W2G. Like others have mentioned......get a good "Gambling" CPA/Tax person. Some who don't gamble, don't know what their talking about. 1smudslide Posted October 31, 2015 #28 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Even if you write off the losses on Federal, you still have to pay the state:(
NMLady Posted November 26, 2015 #29 Share Posted November 26, 2015 A question for casino customers. Let's say that I, an American citizen, while cruising on a foreign flagged ship, in International waters, won $5000 in the casino. What would be my tax liability? Depends on your income and tax bracket.

I Usually I have enough to cover it from OFF the ship.

A4Audigirl Posted December 12, 2015 #34 Share Posted December 12, 2015 What I meant is they don't give you a 1099 to report on table game wins over 1200 like slots but you are supposed to report winnings to IRS
