Wolfpup Posted September 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2005 I just returned from two days aboard the Norwegian Jewel out of NY and had the opportunity to check out the HC cabins and accommodations throughout the ship. The rooms, both inside and suites have ample space for scooters and wheel chairs. There are ramps installed to access the balcony on outside rooms. The bathrooms are wonderful - the area around the shower has a drain to prevent water from spilling across the floor. Twenty-seven wheel chair accessible cabins, including suites: all feature collapsible shower stools mounted in shower walls; all toilets feature arm guards and lowered wash basin. Hearing impaired kits are availible to guests by request. Equipment in the staterooms feature vibrating alarm clocks, door beacon, closed caption television. All staterooms and elevators have Braille text. There are dedicated wheel chair positions in the Stardust Theater on Deck 5. 11 wheelchair access public toilets, including the Spa. The ship has an electric hoist for access to the pools and Jacuzzis. Service animals are welcome, a doggie box is provided by NCL and is changed daily. Additionally, personnel will tour the ship with the passenger on the first day to help them get their bearings. In the restaurants, there was plenty of space between tables.
