Ship Boarding

I received my docs today and read that boarding starts at 2:30. I noticed that people in various threads seem to be coming in earlier......also noted that CC class says you have "early" or "preferred boarding" does that mean that we can board earlier than 2:30, or is that the time everyone can begin? thanks.

Usually boarding is available as early as 11-11:30 AM. It also depends on when the ship arrives in port from the prior cruise, and if there were no disembarkment issues with that group. So in short form, sure you can likely board earlier.

Keep in mind however the cabins are not usually "officially" ready until 1:00. If you board prior to then, they just ask that you wait to go to your cabin until they announce that they are ready. If you board after they are ready, you will usually get an escort from boarding to your cabin. In the past our cabin has always been ready when we boarded about 11:30, but we just drop our carry-ons then go about wondering the ship and having lunch.

By all means get to the port by 11:00 or 11:30; we're usually there by 10:30. I would rather wait at the cruise terminal and people watch than sit in my hotel room and wait to go to the port. I'm ready for my vacation!

Once you board the ship you may not be allowed in your cabin but you can start exploring the ship, sit by the pool and enjoy a drink or stop by the Waterfall Cafe and have lunch.

If you are so inclined and early on the ship you can stop by the spa and volunteer to be a spa model that afternoon.
