Hurricane Activity

Have any of you been at sea recently when this most recent lot of hurricanes hit the Caribbean?

Katrina for example? What happened on board and to your itinerary?

Hmmmmm.

We sail on October 9th, with some 'new' cruisers and I am a bit concerned!

Thanks so much!:)

I was on the Carnival Miracle and we passed within 90 miles of the eye of Katrina on Saturday, 2 days before it hit the gulf coast.

What happened? Not too much. The ship rocked a little, but not too badly. It wasn't enough to make you hang on to anything to keep your balance or to cause things to fall off tables. I don't think many people were seasick. Indoor activities, including meals, happened as normal.

Most of outside decks were closed off and the pools drained. You could go outside near the Lido and aft pools though if you wanted too because they were protected from the wind. Generally I don't think it was much different from a rainy day at sea.
