smallworld73 Posted July 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2015 We've just booked Greek Islands cruise with 2 family adjoining balcony staterooms, just looked on plans & we're right by the lifts. No problem with this, but do the lifts ping or is the soundproofing sufficient? Dd20 light sleeper. Interconnecting balconies question: on the Epic we weren't allowed to have the divider removed for fire safety, just wondered if that's the case on Jade (happy to go with any safety rules obviously, just wondering?!) Venice Sail Away-still with the fabulous views? We sailed on the Jade in 2010, noticed there was a refurb in 2011, what's changed? Carlo's Bakery-can't find a menu or prices. Any recommendations? One more question, when we sailed in 2010 water, tea and coffee were available all the time near the pool (I think?) Is it still available? Thanks for any help! Rare coldinerie Posted July 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2015 Don't know about the sound proofing issue. We just got of the Jade in June 2015. We were in a mini suite and had no issue with noise. 14th deck. Do know about the sail away being spectacular! Next to NYC, Venice is one of the very best ports to sail from . The views are unmatchable anywhere on the planet. No Carlos, sorry. Yep drinks are still available at/around the pool deck. I so want to go back this was one of my very best cruises. Enjoy. JohnIreland Posted July 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2015 Have had several cabins near the lifts (including the Jade) and never heard the pings inside the cabin.
Shawnino Posted July 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2015 We had an ADA-room (all too briefly) on the Jade, #9650. I don't think there is a room closer to a lift on any floor. We could not hear the pings inside our cabin. Not sure what they refurbed. Decor is still decidedly Cheesy Hawaiian. They were having annual inspection and doing carpets when we were aboard (Feb 15) but I'm told these are replaced rather frequently.
Demonyte Posted July 12, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) No Carlos, sorry. Sure there are Carlo's baked goods available, in the atrium, a display on the left side of Aloha Café. Edited July 12, 2015 by Demonyte
SwissLe Posted July 12, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 12, 2015 Sure there are Carlo's baked goods available, in the atrium, a display on the left side of Aloha Café. I think Buddy would be horrified at the quality of produce in the cabinet though - I twice had a cannoli with sour cream. The server apologised each time and threw the rest of the batch in the bin. smallworld73 Posted July 12, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted July 12, 2015 Thanks for replies. Feel a little more reassured about the lifts now. Will check out Carlo's, but will watch out for sour cream! I remember the cheesy Hawaiian decor from our previous trip in 2010, sunglasses at the ready! I'm not a massive fan of the general decor but in hotter climbs it's not so bad. I think the casino is one of my favourites at sea in terms of theme. I think Spinnaker and the night club need to be banished to Hawaiian Heaven though!
