First cruise RCL review

Recommended Posts

Wife and I (mid 70's) decided to book a short 3 day cruise to the Bahamas to see if we would enjoy cruising. Ship was Enchantment of the Seas.

BOOKING. Three weeks before departure on July 10, 2015 used the RCL website to book our cruise. Website was easy to use and to print cruise documents.

PORT CANAVERAL. Parking garage close to cruise terminal one. Slightly larger than airline carrier luggage went smoothly through security with two bottles of wine and six pack of water. Check in took about 20 minutes. Next time will be C&A gold and can use priority check in.

BOARDING. No lines but a long walk from check in counter.

STATEROOM. Ocean view deck 3 mid ship for smoothest ride. Room was clean, but needs updating: scuffs on furniture, drawer bottom peeling, stained shower curtain, rust on shower head and holes in wall fabric. AC kept the room cool and worked well.

MAIN DINING ROOM. Clean and elegant. Wife was impressed with table settings and the way our excellent waiter served our food. Food was good. Tipped our waiter extra.

WINDJAMMER CAFE. Great panoramic view. Buffet had wide variety of cafeteria quality food. Good wait staff promptly cleaned tables.

ENTERTAINMENT. Theater was impressive. Seats were comfortable. Saw two high quality shows: comedian/juggler and colorful musical. Way above our expectations.

SEA SICKNESS. Had sea bands and Dramamine, but didn't need them. Sailing was smooth and no bumping when docking. Stable as being on land.

SUMMARY. Enjoyed cruise. Rate it 4/5. Booked future cruises on Freedom of the Seas. Oasis and one with Celebrity.
