NCL Cuts Port Time in Bermuda

According to the 7/23/15 edition of Royal Gazette NCL is cutting port time in Bermuda for the rest of 2015. It might not seem that much, but that's a lot of dollars that gets spent on the ship and not on the Island. Between the Dawn and the Breakaway that's 6000 people a week. It adds up to a nice piece of coin. Maybe they should think about changing their name to the "Nickel and Dime Line".

Norwegian Cruise Lines has shaved a couple of hours off each of its liner’s time in Bermuda for the rest of the cruise season.

It is unclear why the cruise line has made the decision, but a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Transport said the change is not expected to have a detrimental effect on the Island.

“It is a very small schedule change that was the decision of the cruise line,” the spokeswoman added.

“We do not anticipate a detrimental effect on Bermuda and no decision has been made regarding next year.

“The Norwegian Dawn will now arrive at 1pm (on Sunday) instead of 11am and the Norwegian Breakaway will now depart at 3pm on Friday and not 5pm.”

It is also understood that for its final four calls the Norwegian Breakaway will arrive in Bermuda an hour later than its present 7.30am arrival slot.

Thank you for sharing & tracking down the info. ;)

So, it was not an IT programming error as most of us figured, nor was it done by local officias or port operations, i.e. due to berth docking space, etc. etc. Of course, the partners & supporters will continue to standby the line and refer to the cruise contract.

This isn't the kind of "enhancement" that AS and FDR "promised" that we will seen this summer going forward, right  - perhaps they need to invest in solar panel & turn up the air conditioning to find more savings - nickels & dimes alone won't be enough for their "huge" announcement to get some us excited. But surely, others will feel differently - it's fine by me ... we are all different.

Why not simply make the sailings virtually CTN with a 3 hour foreign port stop - afterall, many folks are perfectly fine in not getting off the ship at all on these "milky" runs.
