To Dress Up or Not to Dress Up

Hi - help please, I'm getting confused re the dress code for formal/elegant nights on the Spirit South Pacific cruise. We have cruised with Carnival previously in the Caribbean and on formal nights most people really made the effort and dressed up. I have been reading on on some older posts this is not the case on the Spirit, jeans are being worn and there is a generally relaxed dress code. I have seen the dress info given on the Carnival web site but would love to hear from anyone who has cruised with them recently to know what to pack.

I can't speak about your ship specifically, but I've noticed a general mellowing of the dress on elegant night. Most men wore slacks and a button down. Most women wore church dresses or pant suits. VERY few fancy dresses etc.
