Rare vcgeno Posted August 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2015 In Istanbul we hired a private guide Burak Sansal (click here for his web site) he met us at the dock and we took public transportation (a great way to go because of all of the traffic and lack of parking) to see the Topkapi Palace, Saint Sophia, Blue Mosque, Underground Cistern, Byzantine Hippodrome, and the Grand Bazaar. It was very crowded and having his access to the guide line at all the attractions saved us a great deal of time. He also understood the best order to see the different sites which helped as well. All of the sites were amazing and well worth the visit. He was on time, reasonably priced, and knew his stuff. Our only regret is that we did not have enough time to see the harem at the palace. Did not see the Spice Market, visit other Mosques, or experience a Turkish bath. Those would be top on our list if we make a return visit.
