Carnival Deposit Help

We are sailing on Carnival next summer and I am curious if the deposit I have already paid is credited towards our full payment, or if this was on extra $200 dollars a person on top of the full payment. I'm having difficulties understanding this statement of group request that they sent me, thought someone here could help me... Thanks.

It would go towards your payment: example - $500 for cruise, $200 deposit, so you still owe $300.
