Amink Posted September 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2005 we are going to be hopefully booking next week, as our Travel agent is having a cruise sail, and we have a certificate that says two category room upgrade... how does a two category room upgrade work? Can we book an inside cabin and end up with a balcony? or does it go inside to inside, and ocean view to ocean view? we are looking at late 2006, early 2007, either Glory, or Miracle we would be driving to either Tampa or Port Canavral(I think) Also, I don't see much on here about Glory, anyone sailed on her Recently? what is she like??? any insight would be great! suseg Posted September 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2005 I'm not sure if there is a "same class" rule to the upgrade situation or not. On one of my first cruises, first cruise out of a US port, we were upgraded from a window to a balcony (that was on "A Big Red Boat"....I loved the BRBs)....smart move...it's been a balcony ever since...and I think that would be considered a different class...Oceanview to Balcony. Curious question, I can't wait to read the responses from the more learned amongst us. Soon to be: Cruisin' Susan
irishgirl Posted September 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2005 If you book a 6A, a two category upgrade would be a 6C. So, if you want a balcony room, you would have to book the next highest OV category to get the lowest category balcony room. Does this make sense?? big_duck Posted September 22, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2005 What is printed on the Certificate. Usually "Sale" upgrades are within Catagory 4 to 4, 6 to 6, etc. Balcony upgrades are usually limited to 1 vice two. There must be some fine print on the certificate somewhere. momof4boys Posted September 22, 2005 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2005 Don't know and don't care how it happened, but we were upgraded from an ocean view to a cat 12 in July. Smart move on CCL's part. DH will only book a suite from now on. We loved our big balcony!
woodman Posted September 22, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2005 SUSEG Our first cruise was on the The Big Red Boat. Was she not wonderful? I loved that ship and every moment on her. I think Disney bought her and used it as one of their first. (not sure) I would put her in my signature but I am not sure what year we sailed on it. Some where ariound 1985 or 86. I was hooked from the minute I walked on the the ship. It took a few years before I could cruise again but now I am trying to make up for lost time.
