sgk2000 Posted August 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Driving to sea caves in St. Martin's, New Brunswick in September. Has any one wore water shoes to walk in caves or do you need more sturdy shoes?
mtu_huskies Posted August 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2015 I'm curious to see replies as well. We are planning to go up there on our Brilliance cruise and from my planning, it sounds like you have to walk through/across a small stream which may require the use of something like water shoes. I'm not sure what we're going to do yet.
dianef Posted August 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2015 Doing the same thing and was wondering if you can get by putting a plastic bag over the shoes you are wearing and just throw it away when you get out of the caves.
sgk2000 Posted August 21, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted August 21, 2015 In videos saw some people just taking shoes off and going barefoot thru water. That doesn't look to save to me with all the stones and rocks!
mtu_huskies Posted September 21, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2015 Bringing this back to the top. Anyone doing New England cruises soon have a plan for what they're wearing at the caves?
Rare Kristal Blade Posted September 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2015 We are doing an independent tour here and our company said to wear shoes which you don't mind getting wet. Now I am thinking about water shoes too, hope someone can tell us.
doug52 Posted September 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2015 We are doing a taxi tour next week and dw and I are just taking an old pair of tennis shoes that we can throw away after the sea caves. We have water shoes but then we would have to clean them and keep them through the rest of the tour.
Rare Kristal Blade Posted September 23, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2015 Thanks Doug52, I'm happy to take an old scrubby pair then chuck them but think my husband will be resistant to that.... He hates throwing anything out! Could you maybe post back after your trip to let us know how wet, muddy, slippery etc please? Have a great time, we will follow in your footsteps mid October. Hvnfuninmn33 Posted September 23, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 23, 2015 I will be doing this tour on our Brilliance cruise Oct 4-11. I am planning on bringing an old pair of tennis shoes that I will throw out afterwards. Will carry an extra pair in my backpack so I'm not wearing wet shoes the rest of the day. tiggerrr Posted September 24, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2015 We're taking a cheap pair of flip-flops that we got a Walmart for $2. They can get tossed afterward if they are too dirty. We'll just wash and dry our feet off and proceed afterward with our normal shoes that we're bringing along.
jules71 Posted October 15, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 15, 2015 Your shoes will get wet, but I couldn't walk over the stones in my water shoes. It was difficult in heavy tennis shoes. I would say you definitely need something sturdy.
Racer70 Posted October 19, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Your shoes will get wet, but I couldn't walk over the stones in my water shoes. It was difficult in heavy tennis shoes. I would say you definitely need something sturdy. We just did the St. Martins sea caves on Oct. 14. We changed into our flip flops and rolled up our pants to avoid getting wet. There is some flowing water that you will have to cross in order to get into the caves. Your feet will get wet, so bring a towel to dry your feet off afterwards. I will say the caves & beach are a must see at low tide and then again at high tide to see the dramatic difference!
MJN Posted June 10, 2016 #13 Share Posted June 10, 2016 We will be in port in September and was debating between this tour and the one that is a combination Whale watching and Bay of Fundy tour on a boat. For those who have done the walk in the Sea Caves were you happy you did it, if you have done both tours which did you like better?
