Laundry & Dry Cleaning

Our first SeaDream cruise is still three months away, but because I enjoy thinking about it, I have begun wondering what clothes I am going to bring. On our last two cruises (on Silversea and Oceania), the laundry and dry cleaning services were so good that I found I could really get away with bringing much less. Do any of you experienced SeaDreamers have any information or opinions to share with me regarding your use of these services on SeaDream?

Hi Zimmy -

I'm getting ready to go on SeaDream II for 13 nights and this time around I'm only taking a roll-a-board that will fit in the plane's overhead compartment. The on board laundry service is that good -- and with an all casual dress code you will need far fewer clothes than you would anticipate (even if you are like me and end up wearing half your dinner - blame it on the ocean waves, not the never-empty glass of champagne!!!)

We had one slightly (or more than slightly) inebriated and very angry passenger throw a drink at her husband in the casino -- miss him but hit six other passengers fairly late one night -- next morning - all clothes had been cleaned and returned to their owners in perfect shape before anyone arrived at breakfast. Too bad we can't say the same for the feuding family.

Don't overpack -- have fun.

Thanks, FT. I had a feeling that the cleaning/laundry services would be fine, but I really needed a confirmation. While I can safely say that we won't be throwing any drinks around, I, like you, often end up wearing my dinner too. I'm at a point in my life where I'm perfectly comfortable wearing the same outfit several times during a cruise, but that won't work if it's covered with food stains. I hope you enjoy your two weeks on SeaDream II.

I don't remember seeing an iron or ironing board in our cabin.

Since DH travels so much for business I have packing his clothes down to a science. Actually one of this tricks is having his shirts folded instead of put on hangers at the cleaners.

I read a trip report on another board that was VERY detailed. Within the report, the traveller included several pictures and videos of his trip.

The images included all of the ship's documentation. daily newsletters, itinerary and excursion info, and the laundry and dry cleaning slips w/prices.

To see the trip report, as well as the laundry/dry clenaing slips (they are at the end of the report), follow this link.

By the way, this trip report has become my new reference document for ALL things SeaDream. I found it last week, and it is, by far, the best, the most complete, the most feature-packed, and the most elaborate SeaDream trip report I have ever viewed. I encourage everyone on this board to go and take a look.
