Ship tours are always much more expensive than DIY or private tours. In La Spezia, there is a free shuttle to port entrance. From there, you can walk ( about 1 mile) or take no. 17 bus to train station from where you can train it to Cinque Terre, Pisa or Florence. In Ajaccio, the ship docks right at the town so it's easy to walk around. At Cannes, the tender drops you on the promenade, a short but steep walk up to the old town and church/museum. There is also a petit traen further along the promenade to take the walk out of it. In Palma, you can get the no. 1 bus just outside the port terminal to the centre of the city and walk to the fabulous cathedral. Other attractions on Mallorca can be reached by organised tours or a combination of bus/ train.

Check out the ports of call threads here on CC for detailed information. Ken
