drafj7 Posted September 3, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2015 We will be staying in one of Disney's resorts prior to our sailing. Disney charges $35.00 per person one way. We are a party of 5 and that seems a bit expensive compared to other cruise lines. Does anyone know if Disney picks you up at hotel and takes you directly to pier. We looked into private transportation. Mears Transportation charges $235.00 for a one way from hotel to pier. Has anyone had experience with another company that is less expensive. Thanks. Tagong Posted September 3, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2015 I rented a car. It was a pretty smooth process. Would do it again.
moki'smommy Posted September 3, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2015 The least costly way will be a one way car or mini-van rental. There are several companies with pick up near WDW and drop off near the cruise terminal; most will pick you up at your WDW hotel to take you to get the vehicle. Budget is in the Doubletree along the row of "good neighbor" hotels, someone is in the Hilton, someone is at the Swan/Dolphin. ALL of the companies offer complimentary shuttle from the car drop off point to the cruise terminal. The easiest thing is for the driver to deposit all luggage and passengers at the cruise terminal and then return the vehicle. It is an easy drive from WDW to the cruise terminal. The drop off codes will be CAPE Canaveral or Cocoa Beach. A computer search for PORT Canaveral will come up empty. Budget code is CC5. Other transportation companies (Mears is the most costly usually!) include Happy Limo, FL Tours, Southern Elegance, Tiffany Limo, etc. Fl Tours is $180 for up to 10 people (+ tip) for one way hotel to terminal. No additional charges--this includes any needed car seats, tolls, and a 30 minute grocery or other stop.
monty913 Posted September 3, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2015 We use the DCL transport. It just seems to be the easiest option for us. But there is only 2 of us so $140 round trip doesn't sound so bad compared to a larger family.
MexicoMark Posted September 3, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2015 A one day rental would be your cheapest option. If you don't want to deal with driving and returning the rental you could hire an Uber.
gka33 Posted April 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) If you are staying at one of the Disney resorts the $35 fee one way is worth for us. We only have a family of four, so not too bad of a hit. The bus will pick you up and no hassle or worry of rentals or other car services, etc. Just make sure you have a bag to change for swimming. The transfer will take care of your luggage so once on the bus, you'll see it at your room. Provided you put tags on it!
