Falmouth - closest beach?

DH and I will be stopping in Falmouth next week on Navigator. In the event that I'm still needing more "beach time," what is the closest beach to the port and the best way to get there? Thanks.

There's a public beach called Burwell about 4 miles to the east. Best way is probably by taxi. There are several adjoining beaches stretching a mile or so to the west, closer to port.

 

There is actually a beach on the west side of town. But when I tried to walk there I kept getting shut out by walls and buildings. I was too stupid to ask a local.
